BHN.TV was founded to bring you quality, relevant programming that reflects the Black American experience. The founders believe that it is time to step up and create one TV channel whose single mission is to be the first and only full-time television destination for the real stories of Black life in America. We believe that Black heritage is American heritage. BHN is a channel for all Americans and the world.

2. How does BHN decide which content to offer through

We have license agreements with television and movie providers throughout the country and we are always looking for new programming that will entertain and engage our customers. If you have a program that you would like us to consider presenting please contact us at

3. What are my options for viewing content?

You can watch the preview of any title for free online. Once you have selected a title to watch you can either watch the full-length title immediately on line or on your TV via the Roku service. We hope you’ll love the content on and will want to keep coming back so we’ve made all of our content available for a low monthly and charter member annual subscription rate. Watch as many programs as you like, whenever you want.

4. Do I need an account with

You do not need an account to browse our content or to watch a preview. If you choose to watch a program online or via your Roku box you will need to create an account. You can also subscribe to our newsletter to be informed about new programming we will be releasing and other related news.

5. How do I find out about new titles to be released?

We display our most recently released titles on the home page. We also give you a sneak peak on what we’re working on. If you want to get additional information or be reminded of new title launches on, sign up for our newsletter using the sign up box at the foot of each page of our website.

6. I am interested in licensing my content to who should I contact?

We’d love to hear about your content and tell you how you can make money with it through Please use our contact form, available via a link on the footer of our site, and we will contact you immediately.

8. How do I activate my Roku device?

Select BHN from the Roku Channel Store and follow the on-screen instructions to link your Roku device to your BHN membership.


9. What do I need to play a program or movie on my computer?

To watch On, you'll need a PC or Mac that meets the following system requirements:

PC (minimum system requirements)
Windows XP with Service Pack 2, or Vista
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, or Firefox 2 or higher
1.2 GHz processor
512 MB RAM

Mac (minimum system requirements)
An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.8 or later
Safari 3 or higher, or Firefox 2 or higher

Broadband internet connection
Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or higher
JavaScript and cookies enabled

10. What special software or equipment do I need?

All you need to watch is Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or higher or HTML5 (Mac) and have JavaScript and cookies enabled on your browser. You can also watch our content on your Roku box or on a mobile tablet such as iPad.

11. What happens if I have technical issues when playing a video on my computer?

The most likely cause of interrupted playback online is your network connection. If you confirm your network is still connected to the Internet, are you running your connection over a wireless network? If so check the wireless router. The number of people using your Internet connection can also cause the bandwidth to drop and interrupt your viewing. When all else fails, restart your computer.

12. Do I have to be online to watch?

Yes. We do not currently offer digital rights management to allow you to disconnect from the Internet.

13. I live outside North America. Can I still watch online?

In certain cases, where we have rights outside North America, we will make our content available in other territories. The quality of watching content on the Internet outside North America may be less than optimal.

14. I wish to cancel my subscription to how do I do this?

You can do this anytime by logging in to your account on and selecting cancel my subscription under myBHN. Please tell us why you’re cancelling and select submit. Monthly subscribers will be able to view our content through the end of your contract period but your credit card will not be charged for additional months. Annual subscribers will be given a pro rata refund. Your account will still be active on and you can reinstate your account at any time. For our cancellation policy click here
